Ebola, ABD Status, and Me.

This post is mostly self-analysis, but I do share snippets of some past academic work.

The TL;DR version: I'm mostly okay about being ABD, but it's not always easy. My abandoned dissertation was about reading disease narratives and (post)colonial fiction. Narratives about emerging viruses (like Ebola) can expose cultural anxieties about control, certainty, and the Other.

I'm still interested in the main questions, texts, and moves to rewrite these narratives, but I prefer to explore all that by writing my own fiction.

We'll be back to the usual topics next time. I promise!
